The Australian iTunes store is now open – songs seem to be AUD$1.69 each.

Can you buy songs from iTunes and put them on any brand of music player, or do you have to use an iPod?

It would need to support AAC files at the very least. But almost every other player supports WMP, and there’s no shortage of other online stores that sell them.

PS. My first purchase was Spiderbait’s iTunes-only version of Black Betty. Ooh yeah.
Not if they’re not yet released in Aus and aren’t available on allofmp3.com. iTunes won’t be my every day music store – but for individual songs and rare releases it’s not that bad.

It’s a pity that you can buy CDs cheaper and you then have the full quality real thing.
