So, GMail bans zips and other archive files, at least if they contain executables. Seems to work if there’s no executable inside it.
Perhaps a reasonable precaution. A bit of a pain sometimes though.
Seems a tad over-nannying and should be optional. Why not block .pif or .vbs or… all the rest known to carry virii?
Usually can be worked around by renaming to .txt or something misleading…..

Yep, the ol’ rename trick is the way to go. Same with dealing with Outlook recipients who are subject to file restrictions.
I didn’t know about that extention change thingie (god, love my tech-speak), learn something new every day.
Seems to block .ins files too (internet settings for windows)
Actually Renaming it .z works, and still works with at least Winrar (don’t know about winzip, though if you still use that, look at winrar)
Winrar is not free. Look at 7-Zip instead. Installs under 1 mega-byte and does the job.
